Cheung Chau Island by bike

My first time on a bike in Hong Kong. Went with Amelia to Cheung Chau which is about an hour by ferry from Central. Cheung Chau is a dumbell-shaped island and has been a fishing village since the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It was a nice change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the main island as there are only two cars (one small police car and a less-than-half-sized fire truck).

Up the Cheung Pak Road. The rented bikes look brand new and most still have bits of plastic wrapping. The gears, however, slipped on the steep roads and we did not trust the very whimsical brakes. So lots of bike pushing…
