Kota Kinabalu? Where is that?

Back in March, 3 days before the Sendai earthquake and tsunami, we bought tickets to Tokyo. I had been putting my husband off going to Japan since we got to Hong Kong as I didn’t fancy going to Japan in winter or early spring. Our last visit to Japan was cold and wet and this time I wanted to experience it in warmer conditions. We bought tickets and then few days later tragedy hit Japan. We were advised to change the destination and on the list of 8 alternative destinations was Kota Kinabalu. Let’s be honest, we had never heard of the place before and actually had to Google it. Found out that it’s in Sabah, the second largest state of Malaysia and in the northeast corner of Borneo. Photos online looked beautiful. Only 3 hour flight from Hong Kong and we will be there tomorrow!

And here it is.
